Your Supplier Wants More Space. Ask Them What The Space Will Earn.

A Free Display Stand Can Become Expensive When Your Store Supplies The Floor, Stock, Labour And Working Capital

“Can we put a stand near the entrance?”

Every supermarket owner, manager and buyer knows the conversation.

The supplier wants visibility. That is understandable.

The retailer needs a commercial return from the space.

That changes the discussion.
• Which shopper mission will the display serve?
• What product should sit beside the supplier’s line?
• What stockholding will be required?
• Who replenishes it during peak periods?
• How will price accuracy and presentation be checked?
• What sales and gross-profit rand should the fixture generate?
• How will you know whether the sales are incremental rather than sales transferred from the normal shelf?

Those questions create a better retailer-supplier conversation because both sides can work towards measurable performance.

A strong supplier can bring category knowledge, promotional support, stock availability and merchandising resources.

A strong retailer brings shopper knowledge, store traffic and control of valuable selling space.

Q4 is where those capabilities should meet properly.

The free RIDBS Cross Merchandising Playbook gives South African retailers and FMCG suppliers a practical structure for attachment sales, fixture productivity, seasonal pairings, display compliance and measurement.

It is particularly useful for independent supermarkets and voluntary-trading environments where space decisions can easily become informal arrangements that nobody reviews afterwards.

Before approving the next stand, agree on what success looks like.
Then measure it.

The South African-specific RIDBS Q4 Cross Merchandising Playbook is FREE to download.
